Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about my services, specialties, and what you can expect while working together.
-
I provide a non clinical, non diagnostic, and non pathologizing approach to somatic therapies including integrative somatic trauma therapy, somatic parts work, somatic attachment therapy, somatic cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and nature based somatic therapy.
I am also trained in Gottman Couples Therapy.
-
Somatic approaches are centered around going beyond and deeper than traditional talk therapy to work with the body (biology + physiology) in the therapeutic process.
Soma translates to the living body in it’s wholeness. A somatic approach is rooted in understanding the connection between our thoughts, emotions, experiences, and bodily sensation - working with them as an essential part of the therapeutic process.
Intentionally incorporating our somatic experience into our growth and healing process allows us to open to and work with the deeper insights and information about our personal struggles, stressors, values, emotions, desires, needs, challenges, symptoms, and relationships and support our innate ability to heal, grow, and thrive.
-
I work with individuals, couples, parents, and professionals who are seeking grounded guidance to support and empower them through meaningful healing, growth, and change in their lives.
-
I work with clients both in person and online.
In-Person
In-person sessions offer dedicated space outside of your home without distractions. My office is located in the heart of downtown Asheville at 12 1/2 Wall Street.
Online sessions
Many people enjoy or prefer online sessions from the comfort of their own space, to eliminate time commuting, or for those who simply live outside of Asheville, NC. Online sessions are held via ZOOM.
-
Research finds greater outcomes from therapy with a higher frequency of sessions during the first 90 days.
I highly recommend and encourage an initial package of 6 or 12 weekly sessions. Eventually we will shift to bi-weekly or even monthly sessions.
How long we work together will depend on what brings your goals and what you want to accomplish in our work together. Some clients experience tangible results in 1-3 sessions, others in 1-3 months, and others in ongoing work together over 1-3 years.
We will work collaboratively to curate the desired and most effective level of support for you.
